Slaying all day is work in itself, but rest and rejuvenation are necessary for self-care. Take a day or two to get centered, and while you're getting in "Me Time", here are some ideas for the ultimate DIY SPA DAY.
Padma Lakshmi, the sultry, elegant and sexy host of Top Chef is the last person you’d think who’d want to spend the day away in bed. But that’s exactly what she does with bed picnics.
An idea that turns the concept of self-care that we provide ourselves without even thinking it, and turns it into an occasion worth enjoying.
Padma suggests we wake up in the morning with a mission: “treat myself as I would want to be treated!”
And to help you with this mission, we decided to offer some alternatives and ideas of our own, to make self-pampering easier!
1. Prep your face
The first part of the DIY starts with putting your best face forward. Stress impacts so much of our daily lives. Start out with loving your pores with a Micellar Water Cleaner and a good steam. A steamer is a wet mist of water that blows directly onto your skin and opens your pores. We highly recommend staying in during the winter when completing this process, because your sinuses will open up. Take a look at how Youtuber Jackie Aina uses her steamer.
2. Plan the perfect twist out
Your signature do is all you, but changing your look with your favorite Youtubers help makes endless opportunities come forth. I personally love Naptural85, who is a vet in the game. While you and Youtube are working on your glow, change it up. Frame your face, half up or half down, to the side – go for it. Use our Twist Out Curlers to create dimensions of depth for your natural hair in no time.
3. Turn Bath Time into Fun Time
The bath is the best time to unwind and rejuvenate for the week ahead, especially when paired with the right music, ambiance and atmosphere. Light a few candles in the room, bring some joy and warmth it while you enjoy some relaxation and me time. Create your own bath time experience with these must haves:
3. Try an out of the box workout routine
It’s nothing like trying something new to change up your day in an interesting way. While your mask is on, and your curls are enjoying all the TLC, try a new workout routine. If you have Roku, try the ALL FITNESS channel. ALL FITNESS is a free workout on your TV. Featuring Pilates, Kickboxing, Cardio and so much more. Move your furniture out the way, and get your 1-2 step on.
4. Don’t Forget Your Girls
When you are getting your self-care in full swing, it’s so much fun to invite your Curlfriends. A playlist, some laughs and a good time can make the heart so merry. Tell them don’t forget a pillow, what happened that week, and a little potluck to unwind and rejuvenate together.
